STL Series slant bed Lathe for Long Workpieces
The STL series of slant-bed lathes is designed to meet the demands of machining long workpieces, and they adapt flexibly to the needs of a wide range of users, from entrepreneurs taking their first steps in small machine shops to experienced machinists at large corporations. The machines’ exceptional stability is based on the high-quality Meehanite cast iron used in the frame structure, which effectively dampens vibrations during heavy-duty machining.
A Customizable Package
The high-speed, ultra-rigid main spindle offers a wide speed range and, depending on the model, can be equipped with either a direct electric drive or a torque-boosting gearbox. This powerful spindle solution, combined with a modern, built-in electric or hydraulic tailstock, enables precise support for even heavy, long workpieces, high loads, and high cutting speeds without fear of vibration or deflection. Machining accuracy is further enhanced by preloaded ball screws on both axes, whose advanced bearing technology minimizes the effects of thermal expansion and maximizes the precise positioning of the power transmission.
To optimize production efficiency, the STL slant-bed lathe is equipped with a high-speed, bidirectional turret with 8 or 12 tool stations, depending on the model. This enables versatile tool configurations and extremely short tool change times, even in complex machining cycles. The STL series is an efficient solution for the mass production of automotive components, electrical equipment, precision shafts, and other demanding mechanical parts, among other applications.

Controls
The SL series is equipped with the popular Fanuc control system. The control package includes the AICC function, which enables “high-speed” turning.
Tool change
The SL series lathes are equipped with either a servo-driven or hydraulic tool changer. The tool changers have 8 or 12 positions, depending on the model.
VDI technology
The VDI system is a quick-release system for every tool holder on the tool plate. Thanks to this, tool changes can be performed in seconds rather than minutes, unlike with the traditional bolted Block clamping system.
Bar Feeder
The automatic bar feeder enables uninterrupted, unmanned batch production on a CNC lathe by feeding new bar stock into the spindle immediately after each workpiece is cut. The device minimizes downtime spent on material changes, ensures precise and stable material positioning, and dampens vibrations in the rotating bar. This maximizes the lathe’s utilization rate and enables efficient “lights-out” manufacturing.
Automatic tool measurement
The measuring arm reduces setup time to seconds and eliminates manual measurement errors. A highly sensitive touch sensor automatically updates the X- and Z-axis tool offsets directly to the machine control system. The sturdy and durable construction ensures precise repeatability even in demanding machine shop environments.
Oil mist collector
This powerful oil mist extractor removes harmful cutting fluid mists, aerosols, and fumes from the air in the CNC lathe’s work area immediately during machining. The device reliably filters the exhaust air and returns the separated oil or emulsion to the lathe’s fluid tank for reuse.
Steady rest
Can be equipped with a steady rest for longer parts.
